Agnes Stankiewicz

Agnes Stankiewicz, 79 of Mount Carmel passed away Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Mount Carmel on October 5, 1937 she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Ann Pesarchick.

She was a 1955 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.

On August 22, 1959 in the former St. John the Baptist Church in Mount Carmel she married George Leon Stankiewicz, Sr. who preceded her in death on December 18, 2006.

Mary was a member of the Church of Our Lady, Mount Carmel. She enjoyed making visits to the casinos.

Surviving are one daughter, Maryann Remash and her husband Joe of Atlas; one son, George Leon Stankiewicz, Jr. with whom she resided; two grandsons, Josh Stelma and his wife Sung of West Virginia and Justin Stelma and his wife Stacie of Overlook; one great-grandchild, Chase Stelma and another great-grandchild on the way in December; one sister, Anna Heiber; one brother, Theodore “Teddy” Pesarchick; nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen, Mary and Geraldine.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Wednesday afternoon, July 5, 2017 at 1:00 pm in the Church of Our Lady, Mount Carmel. Rev. Francis Karwacki will officiate. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. There will be no viewing or services at the funeral home.
