Arlene E. Dougal

Arlene E. (Shuskie) Dougal, 86 of Lansdowne, formerly of Shenandoah passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, Darby.

Born in Shenandoah on May 4, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Joseph J. and Jennie (Antonavage) Shuskie.

She was a 1956 graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah.

Arlene was employed by Bell Telephone Company and later retired from Verizon.

On October 22, 1960, in the former Saint George Church, Shenandoah, she married Robert E. “Duke” Dougal who preceded her in death on May 20, 2013.

She was a member of Saint Philomena Catholic Church in Lansdowne. Arlene volunteered much of her time at her church as well as local hospitals.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband of 52 years were two sisters, Jennie A. Shuskie and Bernice A. Link; and two brothers, Edward and Joseph Shuskie.

Surviving are her sister, Helen F. Bereschak of Shenandoah; her niece and caregiver, Michele Bereschak of Shenandoah; additional nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 10:00 am in Divine Mercy Church, 232 West Cherry Street, Shenandoah with Monsignor Ronald C. Bocian, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Dawn Cemetery, Shenandoah Heights. A viewing will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at the church.
