Betty M. Menapace

Forest City, Pa.

Betty M. Menapace, 97 of Thompson passed away on Sunday June 30, 2024 at the Forest City Nursing Center.

Born on December 6, 1926 in Mt. Carmel, she was the daughter of the late Harry I. Sharer and Margaret (Kehler) Sharer.

She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.

On September 14, 1946 in Mt. Carmel at the former St. Peter’s Rectory she marred Matthew L. Menapace, Sr. who preceded her in death on August 7, 2003.

Betty was a retired administrator for the Somerville New Jersey Medical Center.

She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Parish in Susquehanna, a life member of the Somerville American Legion Post Auxiliary and member of the Ladies Club of Thompson.

Betty was an avid crafter, enjoyed entertaining and cooking but most of all loved her family very deeply.

Surviving are her nephew, John Kehler and his wife Sandy of Coal Township; niece, Pamela Carroll and her husband Tim of Harrisburg; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Matthew L. “Butch” Menapace on June 6, 2023; sister, Dorothy Kehler; and brother, Harry Alexander.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday July 5, 2024 at 11:00 am in Divine Redeemer Church, Mt. Carmel with the Rev. Bernard Wamayose, AJ, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Township. A viewing will be held on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor. In lieu of flowers, expressions so sympathy can be made to Most Holy Trinity Church, 15 East Church St., Susquehanna, PA 18847 or St. Francis of Assisi Kitchen, 500 Penn Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509.
