Catherine Huratiak 92, of Atlas passed away on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the Mt. Carmel Senior Living Community.
Born in Centralia on January 16, 1926 she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Messarge) Liptock.
She was a 1944 graduate of the former Hubert Eicher High School in Centralia where she was class salutatorian.
Catherine had been employed in the local garment factories. She had worked at the Oxford Dress factory in Shamokin for many years and was last employed at Len-Jef in Mt. Carmel.
She was married to Philip Huratiak who preceded her in death on February 26, 1982.
She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church in Mt. Carmel and the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
She is survived by five sisters, Anna Herko of Spotswood, NJ, Susan Sokol of Glenside, Martha Grabowski of Den-Mar Gardens, Helen Kaputa of Plymouth Meeting, Marie Tyson of Santee, CA; two brothers, Joseph Liptock of Den-Mar Gardens and Peter Liptock of Plymouth Meeting; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Michael Liptock, Jr., George, Mark, John and Charles Liptock.
Divine Liturgy will be held Wednesday, August 29th, 2018 at 11:00 AM in SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church with interment to follow in the parish cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 8:30 am until 10:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 131 North Beech Street, Mt. Carmel or your favorite charity.
