Daniel "Dan" Ozlanski of Millville and formerly of Mt. Carmel passed away on March 1 at the age of 47. Dan's departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family and friends, his German Shepards, and his love for the great outdoors.
Born to parents Margaret and Daniel Ozlanski in 1976, Dan grew up with a passion for adventure and service. He graduated from Mount Carmel Area Jr./Sr. High School in 1995. Dan served with honor in the Air Force from 1995-1999, demonstrating his commitment to protecting his nation through domestic and international deployments. Following his military service, Dan continued his devotion to public service as a corrections officer for nearly 25 years with a multi-faceted and distinguished career. He served at multiple institutions, eventually rising to the rank of Captain. His leadership and integrity were unparalleled, earning him the respect and admiration of his colleagues, who affectionately called him “Oz.”
Beyond his professional life, Dan's true joy came from his outdoor pursuits. An avid cyclist, runner, hunter, and fisherman, he found solace and rejuvenation in nature's embrace. Dan's spirit thrived in the wilderness.
Dan's compassionate nature extended to his furry companions as well. He adored his dogs, who were more than just pets but cherished members of the family. Their loyalty and companionship brought him immeasurable joy and happiness.
Dan leaves behind a legacy of service, integrity, and love. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may no longer walk among us, his memory will forever remain etched in our hearts.
A memorial service to celebrate Dan's life will be held on Saturday, March 23 at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor. The visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, and a service will begin at 11:00 am with the Rev. Joan A. Brown officiating at the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project or K9s For Warriors.
