Dorothy A. Brown

Dorothy A. Brown, 89, of 189 Tiffany Lane, Mt. Carmel and a former resident of 6216 Westover Drive, Mechanicsburg passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018 at the Heritage Springs Memory Care Center in Lewisburg.

Born in Boston, MA on August 25, 1928 she was a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Mary (Devine) Sullivan.

Dorothy attended Boston schools.

She was married on January 26, 1963 in Boston, MA to CDR Troy L. Brown, USN who preceded her in death on April 12, 1995.

Dorothy retired from the PA State Department of Revenue where she was employed as a tax clerk. She had previously been employed by the Department of the Navy.

Dorothy was very active in the Catholic Church having been a member of the Church of Our Lady, Mount Carmel. She enjoyed participating in her prayer group. She also liked walking, hiking, reading and playing bridge. She always delighted in her trips to the shore having enjoyed the ocean.

She is survived by two sons, Troy Brown and his wife Lisa of Mt. Carmel and Tyler Brown, Esq. and his wife Juliana of Mechanicsburg; one daughter, Dr. Sue Brown and her husband Dr. Michael Douvas of Crozet, Virginia; nine grandchildren Troy Brown, Esq. and his wife Kaitlynn, Kyle, Rachel and Connor Brown, Shannon and Caitlin Brown, and Alexandra, Julia and Jackson Douvas.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Religious services will be held Friday, January 26, 2018 at 8:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street Mt. Carmel with the Rev. Francis Karwacki officiating. Interment will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and on Friday morning from 8:00 am to 8:45 a.m.
