Dorothy M. Hertzog, 93, formerly of Merriam, Mount Carmel Township, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.
Born in Marion Heights on March 8, 1931, she was a daughter of the late George Nadzon, Sr. and the late Dora (Katchmer) Nadzon.
Dorothy attended Marion Heights schools.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as the manager of the food counter for the former F.W. Woolworth Company in Mount Carmel and Shamokin for over twenty-five years.
On November 1, 1949 in Winchester, Virginia, she married Billie Hertzog who preceded her in death on December 29, 1991.
Dorothy was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Mount Carmel and was a former member of the Ramblers Club.
In her younger years, Dorothy enjoyed cooking homemade meals for her friends and family, camping in the great outdoors, bowling, and spending time with her Grandkids.
Surviving are her son, Robert Hertzog and his wife Cathy of Merriam; daughter-in-law, Christine Hertzog of Pennsylvania; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were her son, Thomas Hertzog; daughter, Donna Yucha; son-in-law, Carl Yucha; and three sisters and four brothers.
Religious services will be held on Friday morning, August 9, 2024 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Joan A. Brown, officiating at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday morning from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Grace United Church of Christ, 136 East Third Street, Mount Carmel, PA 17851.
