Dorothy Ann Kogut

Dorothy Ann (McGinley) Kogut, 79 of Catawissa, formerly of Mount Carmel passed away on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born on November 2, 1944 in Ashland, and raised in Centralia, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Melva (Nutter) McGinley.

She had worked various jobs until her retirement.

Dorothy was a 1962 graduate of Catholic High School in Mount Carmel.

She was a member of the former Saint Ignatius Church, Centralia.

Surviving are her son, Michael Kogut (Kristi Getty); daughter, Michelle Kogut (Mark Sofranek); six grandchildren, Ryan Kogut, Rhiannon Kogut, Amber Kogut, Aidan Kogut, Jared Sofranek, Kaila Sofranek; two great-grandchildren, Lola Kogut and Briar Kogut; and nephews and nieces, Sean McGinley, Tommy McGinley, Kevin McGinley, Cindy Polcovich, Robin Smith, Kim Karasek, Earl McGinley, and Erin Omar.

Preceding her in death, in addition parents were her daughter, Christine “Chrissy” Kogut; and brothers, Earl McGinley and Tommy McGinley.

A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Ponduce Farms, 270 White Church Road, Elysburg.  Joseph J.
