Edward A. Schetroma, Sr., 94 of 351 South Locust Street, Mt. Carmel, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at the Mount Carmel Senior Living Center, Mount Carmel. Born in Mt. Carmel on November 19, 1930, he was a son of the late Anthony and Adeline (Mazzatesta) Schetroma, of Mount Carmel.
Edward enlisted in the United States Army and served his duty in the Korean Conflict.
After his discharge, he was employed at the Glenn Burn Colliery. He then obtained a position with the Kennedy Van Saun Manufacturing & Engineering Company in Danville.
On April 18, 1953, Edward was married in Winchester, Virginia to Louise (Gurski) Schetroma, who preceded him in death on March 9, 2016.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Edward was a passionate homing pigeon racer and would sit patiently for hours waiting for his birds to return.
He is survived by one son, Edward Schetroma and his wife, Ann Marie of Shamokin.
In addition to his wife, Edward was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers and sisters, Richard, Frank, Albert, Joseph, Julio, John, Adeline (Dolly) Forsyth, Eleanor Blessing, Mary Shuder and Loretta Kovolovich.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with the Very Rev. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor as celebrant. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Ralpho Township. A viewing will be held on Thursday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc.
