Edward Strike

Edward Strike, 99 of 43 South Spruce Street, Mt. Carmel passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Grandview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Danville.

Born in Mt. Carmel on March 30, 1922 he was the son of the late Frank and Laura (Szramowski) Strike.

He was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School where he was a champion wrestler. Penn State coaches said he was the strongest wrestler in Pennsylvania.

On December 3, 1943 in Elkton, MD he married the love of his life, Evelyn (Lucas) Strike who survives.

Edward served in the United States Navy as a Torpedoman during World War II.

He served the Borough of Mt. Carmel for 45 years as a police officer of which 25 years were as police chief before his retirement.

Edward was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son Frank Strike and his wife Estrella of Fairfax, Virginia; three granddaughters, Gabrielle Strike Karthauser and her husband Zachary, Katherine Strike, and Tamara Ozlanski and her husband Michael; two sisters, Josephine Smar and Regina Spering both of Philadelphia; and his son-in-law, James Rathosky.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Rathosky on January 24, 2018 and his brother, Michael Strike on August 15, 2018.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with the Rev. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Township. A viewing will be held on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc.
