Elizabeth "Betty" Burge

Elizabeth (Betty) D. Burge, 99, of 194 Arizona Drive, Den-Mar Gardens passed away of natural causes on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the home of her son Howard Burge and daughter-in-law Judy Burge in Mt. Carmel.

Born in Mt. Carmel on November 2, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sadie (Beaver) Barnes.

Betty was married on August 31, 1940 in Centralia by the Rev. William O. Mayer to George W. Burge who preceded her in death on April 3, 1996.

She attended Mt. Carmel schools.

Betty loved her Savior, Jesus Christ and was a member of Hope Community Church in Mt. Carmel.

She enjoyed doing word searches, watching game shows, and loved to dance Polkas.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Bodnar of Ambler and Elizabeth (Penny) Dobler and her husband Franz of Lancaster; one son, Howard (Ted) Burge and his wife Judith of Mt. Carmel; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and several nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Joseph and Thomas Barnes; two sisters, Anna Milner and Genevieve Barnes; and one son-in-law, Joseph J. Bodnar, Jr.

Religious services will be held on Friday, December 11, 2020 at 11:00 am at Hope Community Church, 551 West Fourth Street, Mt. Carmel with Pastor Dan Renno officiating. Interment will follow at Christ Church Cemetery, Fountain Springs. A viewing will be held on Friday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service at Hope Community Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Elizabeth can be made to Hope Community Church or a charity of your choice. Joseph J. Stutz, Inc.
