Ellen Moraskie

Ellen Moraskie, 83, formally of Atlas and Kulpmont passed away Saturday, February 22,2025.

 Born April 21st, 1941 in Atlas, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha (Caroll) Schlagle. On February 15th, 1958 she was united in marriage at St. Joseph church, Ashland to Francis Moraskie whom she shared a blessed union of forty-five (45) years until his death. 

 Ellen attended Mt. Carmel High School.

 Ellen was of strong character, hardworking, her love and devotion to her children and grandchildren was unconditional. 

 Ellen was employed by Len – Jef garment Factory, Mt. Carmel for many years and upon retirement worked at Geisinger Medical Center and also did housekeeping for local neighbors. 

 Ellen was a devout Catholic and started every day by saying the Rosary. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic church. She enjoyed decorating her home, listening to Polka music and dancing, but most of all she enjoyed spoiling and bragging about her two grandchildren, whom she adored. Ellen’s favorite pastime was going out to lunch and getting ice cream with her beloved son Stephen.

 Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Varano and son-in-law David of Elysburg. A granddaughter, Krysten Varano of Conshohocken Pa, a grandson Chad Varano of North Hills Pa. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Francis and a loving and devoted son Stephen. In addition, brothers, Daniel, Leonard, Frank and sisters Alberta White and Mary Fuller. 

 A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home 40 South Market Street Mt. Carmel, Joseph J.
