Evelyn M. Ryan

Evelyn M. (Davis) Ryan, 75 of 34 North Spruce Street, Mount Carmel, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.

Born in West Hemlock Township, Danville on September 8, 1949, she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Edna (Lawton) Davis. She was one of fourteen children and was affectionately known to them as “Nick”.

She attended Danville schools.

Earlier in life, Evelyn was employed as a seamstress in the garment industry. She later retired from HRI Inc.

On February 5, 1970 in Mausdale, Danville, she married Frank A. Ryan who survives.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Mount Carmel.

Evelyn’s enjoyment in life was her family. She loved spending time with them especially during the holidays and at family reunions.

Surviving in addition to her husband of fifty-four years, Frank A. Ryan are her two sons, Rodney Ryan of Palatka, FL and Ronald “Sam” Ryan and his wife Joan of Mount Carmel; her daughter, Brenda Shevitski and her husband Mike of Paxinos; grandchildren, Joshua Ryan, David Ryan, Brianna Ryan, Amanda Ryan, Craig Ryan, and Ryan Shevitski; great-grandchildren, Paisley Ryan and Beau Ryan; two sisters, Shirley Mordan and her husband Char of Norristown and Linda Heddings and her husband Gary of Sunbury; sister-in-law, Diane Davis of Danville; brother-in-law, Donald Ryan and his wife Charmaine of Wilburton; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding her in death in addition to her parents were her infant grandson before birth, Jonathan Ryan; and eleven brothers and sisters, William Davis, Norma Woodrig, Joseph Davis, Josephine Koser, Sara Davis, Nancy Davis, Robert Davis, Martha Erlston, Harvey Davis, Connie Rose Davis, and Donna Sheehan.

Religious services will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor. Pastor Dan Renno will officiate. Interment will follow in Columbia Hill Cemetery, Danville. A viewing will be held on Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.
