Gerald Charles Fegley, 89 of 14 South Market Street, Mount Carmel passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024 in his home.

Born on January 24, 1935 in Mount Carmel, he was a son of the late Charles Harrison and Marcella Belinda (Wary) Fegley.

He was a 1953 graduate of Mount Carmel High School.

Mr. Fegley was a decorated Veteran, having served his country in Army from 1953 until his honorable discharge in 1956. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

On November 23, 1957 in Virginia, he married the former Esther Kornaski who survives.

Jerry was a retired plumber and was last employed in general maintenance at the former Shamokin State Hospital, Coal Township.

Jerry was instrumental in the formation of youth baseball and softball programs in Mount Carmel. In addition, he was a former Mount Carmel Little League Chief Umpire. He was an avid sports fan… Go Big Red! He was also a member of the former Loyal Order of Moose, Mount Carmel where he served as past governor for twelve years.

Surviving in addition to his wife of almost sixty-seven years, Esther Fegley are his four sons and daughter, Mike Fegley and his wife Ruth Romaine of Wisconsin, Alan Fegley at home, David Fegley and his wife Beth of Elysburg, Bonita Gudleski and her husband Dan of Mount Carmel and Edward Fegley and his wife Beth of Mount Carmel; ten grandchildren, Harrison Fegley, Rheann Jacobs, Janine Fegley, Mary Fegley, David Fegley, Brad Fegley, Mandy Fegley Karycki, Edward Fegley, Tucker Fegley and Ainsley Fegley; eight great grandchildren, Max, Amelia, Jazlyn, Piper, Mara, Norah, Elliot and Jillian; one brother, Frank Fegley of Florida; nieces and nephews.

Religious services will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Joan Brown, officiating at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor. Interment with military honors will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Thursday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Jerry’s name can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or at www.stjude.org.
