Glenn Lee Wetzel, 87 of 42 South Hickory Street, Mount Carmel passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024 in his home surrounded by his family.
Born on May 4, 1937 in Mount Carmel, he was a son of the late Thomas and Alma (Shular) Wetzel.
He was a 1956 graduate of Mount Carmel High School and attended Villanova University.
Glenn served his country in the United States Army Reserve.
On August 19, 1960 in Saint Paul’s Evangelical Church, Mount Carmel, he married the former Patricia Bogovich who survives. They were married for sixty-four years, having been together for sixty-nine years.
He retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.
Glenn was a member of the RW Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania, Union County Sportsman Club, American Legion Post 231, Kulpmont, the Valley Gun and Country Club, Elysburg, the Fraternity Rod and Gun Club of Mt. Carmel in Woodward and the Mount Carmel Municipal Authority. He was also past secretary, governor and treasurer of the Mount Carmel Loyal Order of Moose. Glenn was a coach and fundraiser for the Mount Jets football team from 1968 until 1981. He was also a member of the 1954 Mount Carmel Championship football team.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Patricia Wetzel are one daughter, Dawn Palewicz and her husband Marty of Den-Mar Gardens; son, Glenn Wetzel of Calabash, North Carolina; grand-daughter, Alyssa Zaitchik and her husband Benjamin of London, UK; great-grand-pup, Winston; sister, Jeanne Wetzel Imler of Sedona, Arizona; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents were his brother, Robert Wetzel; and two sisters, Doris Wetzel Linn and Nancy Wetzel Blinn.
Religious services will be held on Wednesday morning, September 18, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor. Pastor David Butler will officiate. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township. A viewing will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:00 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home.
