Gregory Carl Minnig Sr., 61 of 223 Main Street, Locust Gap passed away on Friday morning, June 2, 2023 at his residence.
Born on November 19, 1961 at the former Ashland State Hospital, Butler Township, he was a son of the late John and Anna Marie “Ducky” (Birster) Minnig.
He was a 1980 graduate of Mount Carmel High School.
Greg was employed for many years at Milco Industries, Bloomsburg. He also worked as a security guard at Knoebel’s Amusement Resort, Elysburg.
He was of the Catholic Faith and was a member of the former Saint Joseph’s Church, Locust Gap. He was a life member of the Locust Gap Fire Company. In more recent years, he enjoyed playing video games and even more so with his grandchildren. Earlier in life, he was an avid hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. Above all else, his family was of most importance to him especially his children, grandchildren and brothers.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his infant sister shortly after birth, Anna Marie Minnig.
Surviving are his four children, Gregory Carl Minnig Jr. and his fiancé Brooke Kruskie of Mount Carmel, Cody A. Minnig and his wife Shana of Aristes, Travis Minnig and his wife Nicole of Shamokin and Angela Merelo of Mount Carmel; grandchildren, twins, Garrett and Grayson Minnig, Morgan Snyder, MayMarie Minnig, Alivia Short, Maddox, Karson and Paxton Minnig, Zoey and Macie Minnig and Logan Merelo; four brothers, including his twin, Vincent Minnig of Locust Gap, John W. “Jack” Minnig and his companion Dianne Tomcavage of Mount Carmel, Edward Minnig and his wife Denise of Atlas, and Thomas Minnig Sr. of Locust Gap; two aunts, Florence Alberta Dancho and Barbara Birster both of Locust Gap; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 9, 2023 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with Very Rev. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beaverdale. Viewings will be held at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am.
