Irene Marie Eichelberger

Irene Marie Eichelberger, 66 of 154 E. Columbia Ave., Mt. Carmel passed away on Wednesday morning, November 1, 2017 at her residence.

Born in Shamokin on May 1, 1951 she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Agnes (Kolego) Tafner.

She was a 1969 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.

Irene retired from Walmart Corporation, Coal Township.

On December 18, 2007 in Mt. Carmel she married George Eichelberger who survives.

Irene enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Eileen Zarski and her husband Jason of Mt. Carmel and Juanita McBride and her husband Shawn of Coal Township; one step-son, Eric Eichelberger and his wife Sherry of Locust Gap; one step-daughter, Stephanie Eichelberger and her fiancé Michael Baker of Danville; six grandchildren, Kirsten Stefanowicz and her husband Brian, Jacob Zarski, Tristan McBride, Brayden McBride, Jason Eichelberger and Meghan Lang and her husband Ken; two great-grandchildren, Maverick Stefanowicz and Samuel Lang; one sister, Mary Ann Alexander and her husband Robert of Cape Coral, FL; one brother, Albert Tafner and his fiancé Teresa Kenenitz of Strong; numerous nieces and nephews.

Religious services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel. Rev. Rose Marquardt will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. A viewing will be held in the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.
