Jerome G. Odorizzi, 70 of Shamokin passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center where he had been a patient for three weeks.
Born on January 14, 1948 in the Shamokin Hospital, he was the son of the late Albert and Regina (Sebastian) Odorizzi.
He was a 1965 graduate of Mount Carmel High School where excelled as a wrestler.
Jerome was a decorated Army Vietnam veteran having enlisted in 1965 and served with the A/1/ 27th Infantry, 25th Infantry Division. He was wounded in Vietnam in July 1966 and thereafter served as a drill sergeant at Fort Dix until his honorable discharge in 1968. His decorations and citations include the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and an Overseas Service Bar.
Jerome was a very charitable person. He loved his family, friends and his dogs, Angel and Noel. He was a loyal supporter and member of Mostly Mutts. He loved all kinds of music and had a vast collection of vinyl records. He was an avid fan of all Philadelphia sports teams. Jerome enjoyed traveling and reading.
Surviving are two brothers, Louis Odorizzi and his wife Barb of Elysburg and Joseph Odorizzi and his wife Nancy of Dooleyville; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was his older brother, Michael Odorizzi in 1973 who was also a Vietnam veteran.
Graveside services with military honors will be held on Wednesday morning at 10:00 am at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
