John “Jack” Klinger, 86 of 184 Main Street Locust Gap passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Hospital, Coal Township.
Born in Ashland on November 9, 1931 he was a son of the late William and Frances (Bosche) Klinger.
Jack graduated from the former Mt. Carmel Township High School.
He was a veteran of the Korean War.
John had worked for many years as a coal miner and bartender.
He was married to the former Barbara (Burns) Klinger who survives.
He was a member of the Church of Our Lady, Mt. Carmel, Mt. Carmel Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2110, Kulpmont American Legion Post #231, Locust Gap Fire Company, Lithuanian Club in Mt. Carmel, and the West End Fire Company, Kulpmont.
In addition to his wife, Barbara Klinger, he is survived by five children from his first marriage; one son from his second marriage, David Klinger and his wife Kristen of Selinsgrove with their two children, Jack’s grandchildren, David Klinger Jr. and Joshua Klinger; one brother, Robert Klinger and his wife Connie of Hagerstown, MD; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother, William Klinger.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Church of Our Lady, Mt. Carmel. Rev. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Locust Gap. A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt. Carmel.
