Joseph L. Homicz, 90 of 323 East Camp Street, Mt. Carmel passed away on Friday, October 27, 2017 at the home of his daughter-in-law, Dianne Homicz.
Born in Mt. Carmel on September 20, 1927, he was the son of the late Louis and Helen (Bernas) Homicz.
Joseph attended Mt. Carmel Catholic Schools.
He was married to Anna Mae (Landy) Homicz who preceded him in death on May 8, 1995.
Joseph served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1947. He received the American Theatre Medal and World War II Victory Medal.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed form many years at the former A&P Supermarket in Mt. Carmel.
He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish and the Knights of Columbus Council #628. He liked to fish and was an avid bowler and shuffleboard player. He was a lifelong Mt. Carmel Area Football fan. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his great-grandchild, Lucas.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Dianne Homicz of Mt. Carmel with whom he resided and her children, Joe’s grandchildren, Allen Homicz, Jr. and Nicole Worgen and one son, Joseph Homicz and his wife Therese of Kulpmont and their children, Joe’s grandchildren, Megan Hafer and Amanda Homicz and one great-grandson, Lucas Worgen.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Allen T. Homicz on January 28, 2012.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday October 31, 2017 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with the Rev. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor officiating. Interment will be private at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beaverdale. A viewing will be held on Tuesday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor.
