Joseph “Remo” Remash, 69 of 436 W. Saylor St., Atlas passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.
Born in Ashland on May 13, 1949, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Sue S. (Cherapan) Remash.
Joe was a 1967 graduate of Mount Carmel High School.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a supervisor for International Paper, Mt. Carmel Township.
On June 21, 1991 he married the former Maryann Stankiewicz who survives.
Remo enjoyed shooting darts locally at the Natalie Fire Company and in past years at Dorko’s, Mt. Carmel. He enjoyed frequenting the M C Coney and Walmart. Joe loved his granddogs, but even more, his family especially his four grandkids.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Maryann Remash of Atlas are four children, Joseph Remash and his wife Amber of Lancaster, John Michael Remash and his companion Michelle of East Cameron, Josh Stelma and his wife Sung Lee of West Virginia and Justin Stelma and his wife Stacie of Overlook; four grandchildren, Matthew, Sophia, Chase and Sabreena; one sister, Ann Marie Pauza, and her husband, William, of Mohrsville; nieces, nephews, cousins, and four granddogs, Allie, Lola, Daisy and Avalon.
A Panachyda Service will be held on Thursday evening, June 21, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel. Very Rev. Archpriest Michael Hutsko will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
