Lawrence R. "Shug" Lashinski

Lawrence R. “Shug” Lashinski, 74 of 341 S. Turnpike St., Mt. Carmel passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 with his daughters by his side.

Born on November 18, 1943 in the Shamokin Hospital, Coal Township, he was a son of the late William and Marcy (Yodis) Lashinski.

He was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.

Shug served in the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania from August 1964 until August of 1970. He was a decorated sharpshooter having been awarded medals and badges.

On July 3, 1971 in the former St. Peter’s Church, Mt. Carmel, he married the former Patricia Zanella who survives.

Prior to his retirement, he worked for 43 years at Cardinal Container/International Paper Company, Mt. Carmel Township.

Shug was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. He was a member of the Cedar Lodge 378 of the Free and Accepted Masons, Mt. Carmel and was a life member of the Clover Hose Company, Mt. Carmel.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 47 years, Patricia Lashinski are two daughters, Donna Fetterman and her husband Elwood of Wilburton and Denise Kort and her husband Nathan of Kulpmont; two grandsons, Robert and Ryan Fetterman both of Wilburton; two sisters-in-law, Donna Fruet of Atlas and Anne Yodis of Philadelphia; one brother-in-law, Albert Zanella and his wife Ruth of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Shug was preceded in death by his uncle and aunt, Bolick and Della Yodis who raised him; and one brother, Ronald Yodis.

Religious services and interment with military honors in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Township will be private at the convenience of the family.
