Leo William Powell, 95 of 307 South Peach Street, Mt. Carmel, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at the Mt. Carmel Senior Living Community.
Born in Mt. Carmel on May 28, 1929, he was the son of the late James and Anna (Doyle) Powell.
He attended Mt. Carmel Schools.
Leo served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.
On July 13, 1959 in Urban, he married Mildred (Feger) Powell who survives.
Prior to his retirement, Leo had been employed for many years as a postal worker.
He was a member of the former Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mt. Carmel. He was an avid trout fisherman, and football and baseball fan.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Gilbert Powell and his companion Nile Fisher of Mt. Carmel; daughter, Ann Swatsky of Shamokin; two grandchildren, Nicole Steinbauer and her husband Michael and Kevin Powell and his wife Jillian; four grandchildren, Behret, Noelle, Caleb and Jacob; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Leslie, James and John Powell; and two sisters, Myrtle Boyle and Genevieve Cardiff.
Religious services will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 11:00 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor, with the Rev. Brian Buzik officiating. A visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Mt.
