Lorraine Marie Sedor, 87, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. Born on September 27, 1934 to Florence and Thomas Taddeo in Atlas, Pennsylvania, Lorraine grew up in a large family, alongside sisters Louise and Gloria, who preceded her in death, and a brother, Tom, of Mechanicsburg, PA, who survives.
Lorraine married the love of her life, John Sedor, on May 31, 1958, in her beloved Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian-Greek Catholic Church. She devoted her life's work to raising their four children - John, Robert, Lisa, and Teresa - in Centralia, PA. After being displaced by Centralia's underground mine fire, they relocated to Numidia, where the couple resided until John's death at the age of 84 in 2010.
She was a lifelong member of Assumption BVM Ukrainian Catholic Church, Centralia and Lorraine's love for her Lord Savior was rivaled only by her love for her family. She was a devoted wife and mother for 18 years before becoming a grandmother - “Mam Mam” - at 45 years young, She became a proud great grandmother at 80. Over her lifetime, she was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. In her “spare time,” Lorraine could be found baking, cooking, traveling, giving her time to the church, and of course, watching her team, The Mets.
Lorraine retired to her (mother-in-law) suite to be near family in 2018. It was here where she was able to enjoy the constant company of her family, particularly her many grandchildren. She was buoyed by their love and watching them grow into wonderful men and women; wives and husbands; and mothers and fathers of their own. She was an honored guest at graduations, weddings, showers, birthdays, and special occasions until the day she was called by Our Lord.
Most recently, Lorraine was perhaps best known for her gift of gab. She loved a good conversation and, to wit, could even provide most of the conversation without so much as a word from her recipient. Because of her gift, or in spite of it, Lorraine made many friends - many at church but also at her most favorite activity, Pierogies. Supplied with her absolute favorite beverage - a cup of hot, hot coffee - and a companion, Lorraine could be content for hours.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters.
She is survived by her son John and wife Lori; her son Robert and wife Roxane; her daughter, Lisa Rawa and husband, Vince; and her daughter Teresa Diak and husband, Joseph. She had tremendous love for and is survived by her many grandchildren: Keri (Sedor) Schlecht and husband Ricker; Kristen (Sedor) Hanna and husband Scott; Rhiannon (Diak) Rennalls and husband Brian; Nicholas Diak and wife Kayla; Vincent Rawa; Meredythe (Rawa) Wibberley and husband Scott; Victoria (Rawa) Banting and husband Lucas; Ania Rawa; Claudia Rawa; Alexia Rawa; and Carter Sedor. Lorraine’s many great-grandchildren who survive include: Lillian Hanna; Louise Schlecht and William Schlecht; Gracelyn, Allison, Emmersyn, and Irelyn Rennalls; Charlie Belle Banting and Louie Banting; and Henry Wibberley; her brother, Tom Taddeo, of Mechanicsburg; and many nieces and nephews.
