Louis Dondero, 68, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, May 25, 2018.
He was a lifelong resident of Mount Carmel and was born on October 5, 1949 to the late Louis and Mildred (Kornacki) Dondero.
Louis graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School and obtained a B.S. in Business from Lakeland College. He managed Dondero News Agency, a once landmark for the community, in which he developed many strong friendships that he cherished greatly. He had a combined 35 years of coaching basketball at Holy Spirit, Cardinal Brennan H.S. and Mt. Carmel Area H.S. He was also a PIAA Track and Field official for nearly 20 years.
He was an active member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and a Fourth Degree Member in the Knights of Columbus within the Bishop Schott Council.
Louis thoroughly enjoyed his life, especially family beach vacations. He was a happy, loving, fun, and dedicated man who put his heart into every experience. His charming personality touched everyone he met. He had a passion for bowling, golfing, and cheering on the New York Giants, San Francisco Giants, and Villanova basketball.
He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend in life, Janet (George) Dondero. They were happily married for 45 years. He was the proud father of three children, Steven and wife Allison of Taylor, PA; Louis and wife Lynette of Whitehall, PA; and Angela and husband Victor Longo of Ephrata, PA; an amazing grandfather to Dominic Longo, his best “little buddy”. He is also survived by his two brothers Bob and wife Marian of Naples, FL and Tony and wife Alyce of Severna Park, MD; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members who will dearly miss him.
