Mare F. (Kane) Yeager, 59 of 60 Hickory Lane, Locust Gap went home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 14, 2022 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with liver disease.
Born in Ashland on November 19, 1962, she was a daughter of the late Francis Kane and Mary (Barber) O’Neill.
She was a 1980 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School.
Mare devoted herself as a caregiver through home health agencies and more recently was employed as a cook at Pete’s Pizza, Kulpmont until her retirement in 2020.
She was married on November 24, 1990 to the late Rick Yeager who bravely fought glioblastoma brain cancer until his death on March 17, 2020.
Mare was well-known for her selfless nature, compassionate heart, and having never put herself above others.
She took pride in her Irish heritage and Locust Gap roots. Mare enjoyed cooking, going to the casino, watching The Golden Girls, and talking on the phone with her lifelong best friend, Barb Lagerman.
Above all, Mare loved spending time with her family. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren, Hayley and Nick. She was a very involved mom and grandma who expressed her unconditional love by consistently putting the needs of her family above her own. Mare was very family oriented and instilled the same values in her children.
Surviving are her two daughters, Julie Smith and her fiancé Jeremy Strausser and Angie Smith and her wife Sarah; her son, Tyler Yeager; two grandchildren, Hayley and Nick Kirby; her “grandpups”; two stepsons and many step grandchildren who reside in Texas; two sisters, Peggy Thompson and Deb Kozack; a brother, Dave Kane; and numerous nephews and nieces who she adored.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband and a stepfather, Raymond O’Neill.
Religious services by will be held on Friday evening, February 18, 2022 at 7:00 pm at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor. Pastor Tim Perry will officiate. A visitation will be held on Friday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
