Marilyn Kay Simmons, 85, of Strong passed on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at her current home with her daughter and son-in- law Kathy and Carl Yucha in Marion Heights.
Born at Geisinger Hospital, Danville on June 25, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Harold and Pauline (Koons) McCoy.
She was a graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.
On June 30, 1956 in Mt. Carmel, she married Robert “Gil” Simmons who preceded her in death on April 1, 2007.
Marilyn was employed as a bookkeeper for Kerris and Helfrick Construction, Dr. Dennis Mychak and Dr. Houssam Abdul before her retirement.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Carmel and the Kulpmont Sportsmen’s Club. Marilyn served as a Northumberland County Democratic Committee person for many years.
Marilyn was an avid reader. She enjoyed going out with her friends to eat. Above all, she cherished her family and spending time with them.
Surviving are three daughters, Debra Savitski and her husband Charles of Kulpmont, Kathleen Yucha and her husband Carl Yucha, Jr. of Marion Heights, Christine Thomas and her husband Jamie of Kulpmont; four grandchildren, Jennifer Slodysko, Sue Ellen Lamb, Shannon Powers and her husband Chris and Timothy Druckenmiller; seven great-grandchildren, Skyler and Hunter Powers, Delaney, Gabe and his soon to be wife Calista, Jarred Slodysko and his wife Leah; three sisters, Vivian Owens of North Carolina, Linda Procopio and her husband Charles of New Jersey and Judy Heffley and her husband Colin of Kutztown; one brother, Harold McCoy and his wife Barb of Maryland; numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Lynn Druckenmiller.
Religious Services will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Carmel with Rev. Kay Painter officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beaverdale. A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Joseph J. Stutz, Inc.
