Mary Lucille Pittello, age 92 of Mount Carmel passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at the Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.
She was born in Atlas on May 27, 1924 and was a daughter of the late Alfred and Inez Santelli.
She was a 1942 graduate of the former Mount Carmel Township High School.
On November 30, 1946 in the former St. Peter’s Church in Mount Carmel she married the love of her life, Peter A. Pittello who preceded her in death on November 17, 2008.
Mary was a former member of St. Peter’s Church, Mount Carmel and was a member of Divine Redeemer Church, Mount Carmel.
God and family were what mattered most to her. Whenever you saw Pete, you always knew Mary would be close behind. Their marriage was truly one made in heaven. Her love and pride for her family was unsurpassed. Her greatest joy in life was simply caring for her family.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Patricia Higgins and her husband Michael of Shady Acres and Christina Zupicick and her husband Paul of Kulpmont; four grandchildren, Dr. Michael Higgins and his wife Tara, Dr. Eric Higgins and his wife Dr. Christine, Dr. Tricia Heitzman and her husband Jarrett and Kevin Blessing and his wife Lisa; eight great grandsons, Dustin, Luke and Joshua Blessing, Jacob, Caleb, Michael, Gabriel and Samuel Higgins; her godchild and niece, Louise Drumheiser with whom she has a special bond and several other nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were two brothers, Anthony Santelli and Nazareno Santelli and two sisters, Elizabeth Pinamonti and Yolanda Chucoski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 11:00 am in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 West Ave., Mt. Carmel. Very Rev. Martin O. Moran III, VF, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing on Saturday morning at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc., Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel from 9:00 am until 10:45 am with transferal prayers being held at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Divine Redeemer Church, 438 West Ave., Mt. Carmel, PA 17851.
