Maryann C. Horoshak

Maryann C. Horoshak “The Tailor's Daughter”, 76, of 138 North Chestnut Street, Mt. Carmel passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2025 at Mountain View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born at the former Shamokin State Hospital on October 1, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Catherine (Dovach) Horoshak.

She was a 1967 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes High School. She went on to receive her Certified Nursing Aide Certificate at Jonestown Vocational School.

Maryann had been employed as a CNA and in the housekeeping department for over thirty years at Mountain View Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center before her retirement.

She has been a lifetime member of SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, where she loved to volunteer her time helping make pierogies.

Maryann enjoyed going downtown for coffee and conversation. Her and her father had a mutual love of horses. They would go to the Kentucky Derby and various other events where horses were shown.

Surviving is her significant other, Tony Novitsky of Mt. Carmel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Cleaver; aunts and uncles.

Divine Liturgy will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in SS Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church with the Very Rev. Archpriest Michael Hutsko officiating. Interment will follow in Patronage of Mother of God Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Marion Heights. A viewing will be held on Friday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church.
