Michael M. Breskiewicz, Sr. 86 formerly of Kulpmont passed away Monday, February 19, 2018 at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community where he was a resident since July.
He was born on April 14, 1931 and was a son of the late Michael and Felicia Brzeskiewicz.
Mike graduated from the former St. Joseph’s Polish Grade School and was a 1948 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.
On September 1, 1951 he married Elizabeth (Vishey) Breskiewicz who preceded him in death on March 24, 2011.
In July 1952 he enlisted in the US Navy and served as an aviation mechanic during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged in July 1956, he began employment as a draftsman for Sikorsky Helicopters, Bridgeport, CT and for Air Products, Allentown. He spent the majority of his working career as a prison guard, and later as head of the cartography/drafting department at the Lewisburg Federal Prison having retired in 1984 after twenty years of service.
Mike was a member of Holy Angels Church, Kulpmont. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 91, the VFW Post 2110, the Sons of Poland, the Clover Hose Fire Company, the Anthracite Fire Company and the Lithuanian Club all of Mt. Carmel.
Surviving are his son, Dr. Michael Breskiewicz, Jr. and his wife Donna of Elysburg; four grandsons, Dr. Michael Breskiewicz, III and his wife Molly of Elysburg, Steven Breskiewicz and his wife Amy of Philadelphia, Neil Breskiewicz of Baltimore, MD and John Morgan and his companion Nadine Judge and daughter Kelcie all of Weatherly; a great-grand daughter, Rose Breskiewicz of Elysburg; his son-in-law, Cal Morgan of Weatherly; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Morgan; three brothers, Ted, John and Joe; and two sisters, Genevieve and Michaeline.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11:00 am in Holy Angels Church, Kulpmont. Rev. Andrew J. Stahmer, Pastor as the celebrant. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Kulpmont. A viewing will be held on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until 10:30 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel.
