Michael P. Szymanski Sr., 71, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021, at Elkins Crest Health & Rehabilitation Center in Elkins Park.
He was born on July 3, 1950, a son of the late Henry and Mildred (Gildea) Szymanski.
Michael graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1968, where he was voted “best dancer” his senior year. He also was a graduate of Williamsport Technical Institute.
He worked at Mount Carmel Auto Supply, where he delivered auto parts to clients and enjoyed visiting with their pets — never forgetting to bring them treats on his travels.
A devout Catholic, he was a longtime member of Divine Redeemer Parish, where he sang in the church choir.
Michael was a kind and generous person, a diehard Philadelphia and Penn State sports fan, and most of all, a proud dad. He enjoyed family visits to Knoebels Amusement Resort and could spin a mean bowling ball.
He is survived by three children, Mallory Gricoskie and her husband Kyle of Camp Hill, Meredith Storch and her husband Tyler of Voorhees, N.J., and Michael Szymanski Jr. and Stephanie Vitt of south New Jersey; a granddaughter, Everly Gricoskie; three siblings, Hank Szymanski and his wife Louise of Mount Carmel, Virginia Szymanski of Mount Carmel, and Paul Szymanski and his wife Linda of Doylestown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine Siket, and his aunt Eleanor Sosnoski, who was very dear to him.
