Nellie E. Nadzon

February 10, 1940 — November 22, 2022

Nellie E. Nadzon, 82, of Shamokin, Pennsylvania, entered into eternal rest at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, on November 22, 2022 at 11:15am. She was born February 10, 1940, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Warren Allen and Helen (Yeager) Rhoades Wise.

On December 29, 1956, she married the love of her life, Joseph Nadzon who preceded her in death on February 1, 1982. In 1984 she met her long time male companion James Boylan, whom she was also preceded in death by on September 2, 1999.

Nellie received her diploma from ICS Newport/Pacific High School in Scranton, Pennsylvania. She was actively employed throughout most of her life including as a waitress at Flowers Restaurant, a clerk at Jamesway, an aide at Mountain View Manor, and as an insurance agent at Baltimore Life.

She loved her children and grandchildren very much and was an active supporter in all of their activities. Nellie previously enjoyed traveling, taking bus trips and traveling throughout the United States as well as many individual trips to Las Vegas and Atlantic City where she put her card game and slot machine skills to work. She also enjoyed traveling with family to Virginia and one year she even took a trip to Nova Scotia. Her friends were important to her and she would check in weekly via phone calls and regular outings with them; her most beloved activity was going to luncheons with her friends, whom she proudly would exclaim, “I’m going out with the girls,” every Saturday. She also was an amazing chef in the kitchen and had many family recipes for just about every type of meal possible, including dessert; she knew how to throw a party and enjoyed hosting every holiday event. Nellie was also a lung cancer survivor and radiated positivity throughout her treatments, all the way until she rang the bell at her last treatment!

Nellie took pleasure in word searches and puzzles, playing games on her iPad, clipping the Sunday coupons, watching her favorite television shows, sewing, playing card games, getting her hair done weekly, and a good cup of coffee flavored with vanilla.

Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ronald Yeager, and Martha and Thomas Bartos; two loving granddaughters, Devin and Thomas Petrusky, and Sydney Bartos and Hunter May; one great grandson, Jakob Bartos; and her beloved cat Bella. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Warren, Joseph, Morton, and James Rhoades; and three sisters Mary Koch, Martha Oberlin, and Ruth Grimm.
