Patricia M. (Patty Higgins) Chidovich, 73 of 111 Washington Drive, Den-Mar Gardens, Kulpmont passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born on October 27, 1950 at the former Ashland State Hospital, she was a daughter of the late Martin F. and Pauline (Yurick) Higgins.
Pat was a former resident of Centralia and graduated from Centralia elementary schools. She was also a 1968 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School where she was a cheerleader.
On August 11, 1973 in Saint Michael’s Orthodox Church, Mount Carmel, she married Charles Chidovich who survives.
She was a licensed beautician having been the owner and operator of the former Pat’s Beauty Shop in Centralia. She was also employed as a hairdresser in Philadelphia and also for the former Heplers Beauty Shop in Ashland. Pat was also employed for a time as a baker and cake decorator and was the produce manager for the former Bilo Foods in Mount Carmel Township. She was also employed at Boyer’s Food Market in Mount Carmel as the assistant deli manager. Prior to her retirement she was employed in the home healthcare/medical field.
Pat was a member of Saint Michael’s Orthodox Church, Mount Carmel.
She was a person of many talents, some of her interests and hobbies included sewing, knitting, quilting, and gardening. She was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed experimenting with new dishes and techniques.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Nicole Ann Chidovich on March 9, 2017.
Surviving in addition to her husband of fifty years, Charles Chidovich are her sister, Sharon Colclough and her husband Nelson Clayton of Galena, Maryland; two brothers, Martin Higgins and his wife Jana of Hummelstown and Kenneth Higgins and his wife Lorrie of Mount Carmel; and her niece and nephews who she loved very much, Delani Higgins, Ken, Kyle, Zachary, Bryan and Connor Higgins; Bother in law John Chidovich of Mt. Carmel and her buddy “Callie” the cat.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM with Priest Aleksey Paranyuk officiating in St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, Mount Carmel. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Orthodox Cemetery, Mount Carmel Township. A viewing will be held on Monday morning from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at the church. There will be no viewing or services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to St. Michael’s Orthodox Church, 131 North Willow Street, Mount Carmel, PA 17851.
