Peter “Pete” Betz, 68 of Strong passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022 surrounded by his family.
Born on April 18, 1954, he was a son of the late Donald and Helena (Knoblauch) Betz.
He attended Mount Carmel Area schools having graduated in 1972.
On June 23, 1979 he married the love of his life, the former Suzanne “Suzie” Boylan who survives. They went on to have three wonderful children, Christine, Pete and Danny. He was proud of all of their accomplishments and supported them in all of their endeavors. His grandchildren, Colin, Hannah and PJ were the joy of his life. He loved every minute spent with them, especially vacationing in Ocean City, NJ, attending their sporting events, and the time spent with them in the backyard playing.
Pete was a dedicated craftsman, loved hunting and fishing with family and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also enjoyed being the voice of “Locust Gap Baseball” for many years.
In addition to his wife Suzanne, he is survived by his daughter Christine Lokitis and her husband BJ; two sons, Peter Betz, Jr. and his significant other, Tara Owens and Daniel Betz and his wife Katelynn; grandchildren, Colin, Hannah and PJ; two sisters, Barbara Ann Paul and her husband Joe and Helena Betz; one brother, Donald Betz and his wife Sharon; mother-in-law, Dorothy Boylan; brother-in-law, Patrick Boylan and his wife Kathy; sister-in-law, Michelle Pitcavage and her husband Michael; many, nieces and nephews.
Pete was a loving and devoted Husband, Dad, Poppy and Brother. He will be greatly missed by all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with the Rev. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor as the celebrant. A visitation will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, 2001 Clinton Avenue, Coal Township, PA 17866 or the Mount Carmel Public Library, 30 South Oak Street, Mount Carmel, PA 17851.
