Raymond E. Stelma, 64 of 232 East Water Street, Mount Carmel passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at his residence.
Born at the former Ashland State Hospital, Fountain Springs, he was the son of Anna (Czeslowski) Stelma Zelinski of Mount Carmel who survives and the late John Stelma. His stepfather, Enoch Zelinski, Sr., who raised him after his father’s passing, also preceded him in death.
He was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School.
Mr. Stelma served his country in the Army with the 326th Engineer Battalion, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). He received the Good Conduct Medal and the Marksman Badge M16 Rifle.
Earlier in life, Raymond was employed as an auto mechanic.
He was of the Catholic faith. Ray was a member of the Centralia American Legion Post 608 in Wilburton. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching football especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, his favorite team.
Surviving in addition to his mother, Anna Zelinski of Mount Carmel are his sister, Bernice A. Hamulla of Mount Carmel; three brothers, John J. Stelma of Mount Carmel, Frank Stelma of Mount Carmel and Enoch A. Zelinski, Jr. of Mount Carmel. Aunts, nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceding him in death in addition to his father and stepfather were one sister, Mary Stelma and two brothers, Steve Stelma and Mike Stelma.
Services will be private and interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
