Robert M. “Chopper” Deitz, 76 of Snydertown and formerly of Mt. Carmel passed away on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Born in Danville on July 7, 1948, he was the son of the late Marshall H. Deitz and Norma Mable (Sohopietra) Deitz.
He was a 1966 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.
Robert had been employed at PPL for forty-one years retiring as a foreman. Following his retirement, Chopper became a licensed pyrotechnician. He loved to put on fireworks displays throughout the area.
He was a member of the Mt. Carmel Cedar Lodge # 378 of the Free and Accepted Masons, the Shriners, Mt. Carmel Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 464, the Valley Gun and Country Club Elysburg and the Amateur Trapshooting Association.
Chopper was an avid hunter, fisherman, trapshooter and was well know for his voracious appetite.
Surviving are one son, Brian Deitz of Snydertown; one daughter, Karen Beaver and her husband Michael of Berwick; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert J. Deitz on September 3, 1999.
Religious services will be private and interment will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Joseph J.
