Mount Carmel - Robert E. Brass, 96, of Mount Carmel passed away on Tuesday, April 12th, 2022, answering his final and most important call home to heaven to be with his mom and wife, who he missed dearly.
He was born in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania on March 2, 1926. He is the son of the late Margaret Gaetz Brass. He went to Mount Carmel High School. In 8th grade, Robert was drafted into the service on September 1, 1944 and served in Germany during World War II. Later in life, Robert received an honorary diploma from Mount Carmel School District, which he was very proud of.
Robert was married on December 4th, 1965 to Eleanor Zanella Brass, who preceded him in death on June 12, 2021.
They were married 55 years. His heart was broken when she left this earth. They have one daughter, Margaret.
He worked at A.P. DeSanno in Phoenixville and retired from Goyne Pump Company in 1991. He then took on a part time job at Cole’s Hardware Store in Atlas.
Robert was an active member of the Atlas American Legion and Grace Lutheran Church in Mount Carmel.
He was a talented musician playing the accordion, keyboard, guitar and harmonica. He was also skilled in painting, leatherwork, woodwork, and photography.
Robert is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Margaret and Jason Barnhardt of Kulpmont, and two grandchildren, who were the joy of his life, Emilee and Tyler, along with one brother William Brass and nieces.
In addition to his mother and wife, Robert was preceded in death by his aunt Laura Mummah and his uncle Howard Gaetz.
Robert was very lucky that he was loved by so many. We are so grateful for Geisinger at home especially Corin and BobbieSue, Area Agency on Aging especially Natasha. Along with Family Medical, Visiting Nurses Association and the Mount Carmel Senior Living Center, especially Betty and Elias. He will be sadly missed by many.
Religious services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday April 16,2021 at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home 40 South Market Street Mt. Carmel with the Rev. Bob Logan officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. A Viewing will be held Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to the Mt. Carmel Public Library 30 South Oak Street Mt. Carmel, Pa. 17851.
