In the early 1970’s, Shirley gave up her career to focus on her family. She had a kind and generous heart and was devoted to her family, especially her children. She became a licensed beautician later in life which she used to do the hair of family and friends.
Throughout her adult life, Shirley exercised frequently; it was not unusual to see her jogging around the Mt. Carmel Town Park multiple times per week. When Shirley was not taking care of her family, she loved to cook and entertain family and friends. Two of her specialties were homemade cheese pierogies and her famous chili.
