Sigusmund J. "Ziggy" Sienkiewicz

Sigusmund J. “Ziggy” Sienkiewicz, 91 of Mount Carmel passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at the Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.

Born in Mount Carmel on May 5, 1930, he was the son of the late James and Josephine (Bortka) Sienkiewicz.

He was a 1949 graduate of Mount Carmel High School.

Mr. Sienkiewicz was a decorated Army veteran having served his country from 1950 until 1953.

He was a retired self-employed electrician and he also worked for Rockefeller Electric Company.

On April 23, 1970 in Laporte, he married the former Rita Schreiber who preceded him in death on October 7, 2021.

Ziggy was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, the American Legion Post 91, a life member of the Anthracite Fire Company and a social member of the Clover Hose Fire Company all of Mount Carmel.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Rita Sienkiewicz, he was preceded in death by his son, John Sienkiewicz on March 19, 2015 and one sister, Sylvia Evert.

Surviving are one son, James Sienkiewicz and his wife Noreen of Den-Mar Gardens, Kulpmont; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
