Thelma G. Pieri, 90 of Mt. Carmel passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.
Born in Mt. Carmel on April 16, 1927 she was a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Nebroski) Gebauer.
She was a graduate of the Mount Carmel High School.
On May 1, 1948 in the former Our Mother of Consolation Church, Mt. Carmel she married Joseph J. Pieri, Jr. who preceded her in death on February 22, 2009.
Thelma assisted her husband in the operation of their business, the former Pieri’s Beer Distributor in Mt. Carmel.
She was a member of Divine Redeemer Church and the American Legion Post 91 Ladies Auxiliary both of Mt. Carmel. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed tending to her yard. Thelma also enjoyed playing the piano.
Surviving are two daughters, Grace Mattucci and her husband Nick of Paxinos and Marilyn Bolick of Mt. Carmel; two grandchildren, Victoria Shipe and her husband Rick of Kulpmont and Nicholas Mattucci, III and his fiancé Jennifer Small of Catawissa; six great-grandchildren, Nicole, Joseph and Gino Shipe and Jacob, Abigail and Jason Klokis; one great-great granddaughter, Leila Fitzpatrick; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were an infant daughter at birth, Judith Pieri; one grandson, Michael Klokis; one son-in-law, John “Buzz” Bolick; one brother and five sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 12:00 noon in Divine Redeemer Church, 300 West Avenue, Mt. Carmel. Very Rev. Martin O. Moran, III, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Our Mother of Consolation Cemetery, Mt. Carmel Township. A visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:30 am until 11:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mt. Carmel.
