Theresa M. Sebastian

Theresa M. Sebastian, 93 of Locust Gap, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township.

Born on October 4, 1930 in Locust Gap, she was a daughter of the late August and Regina (McAndrew) Metzinger.

She was a graduate of the former Mt. Carmel Township High School.

Theresa was married to Thomas F. Sebastian, Sr. who preceded her in death on May 27, 2012.  For many years before her and her husband’s retirement, they owned and operated the former Tom and Theresa’s Café in Locust Gap and the former T&T Toy store in Mt. Carmel. 

Theresa was a life-long devout Catholic.  She was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Parish in Locust Gap and was currently a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish.  Theresa was blessed with a large family and enjoyed spending her time with them.

Surviving are two daughters, Deborah Sebastian of Mt. Carmel, and Helen Domaleski and her husband Michael of Locust Gap; three sons, Thomas Sebastian of Locust Gap, David Sebastian and his wife Paula of Locust Gap, and Raymond Sebastian and his wife LeeAnn of Locust Gap; thirteen grandchildren, Timmy, Eric, Jason, David, Matthew, Zachary and Ryan Sebastian, Brooke Moroz, Joseph, Michael and Brian Boblick, Nicole Harring and Michael Domaleski; twenty-four great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. 

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and her husband were a great-granddaughter, Peyton Adele Sebastian; two sisters, Dorothy Metzinger and Anne Gregory; and one brother, Robert “Gusty” Metzinger. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with Very Rev. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor as the celebrant.  Interment will be private in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Locust Gap.  A viewing will be held on Friday morning from 9:00 am until 10:45 am at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor.  In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to Our Lady of Mt.
