Elysburg-Just after midnight on November 17th, surrounded by family, Velvet Vincenzes went peacefully to be with the Lord after a two-year battle with lung cancer, which she faced with grace, faith and a good dose of humor.
An active long-time member of Bethany Bible Fellowship Church, avid reader and public library patron, and former cook at Ponduce Market, Velvet spent the majority of her life’s energy being a dedicated mother, loyal and trusted friend, and 2 time spouse to Paul Vincenzes.
In mid-life, Vel, as she preferred to be called, discovered a love of travel, and visited many cities and sites around the US, and well as China, central Europe, and even the Galapagos Islands.
She is survived by her brother Sheldon Gusky (Lewisburg); husband Paul Vincenzes (Elysburg); daughter Carmen DiCinque (Woodside, CA), son-in-law Stuart Schonberger and granddaughters Talia and Anica; son Scot Vincenzes and daughter-in-law Charlotte (Bloomsburg); and daughter Tanya Young (Annville, PA), son-in-law Michael Young and grandsons Mason and Devan Sosnoski.
As per Velvet’s wishes, there will not be a service or funeral. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The American Cancer Society or the North Shore Animal League. Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor has been entrusted with arrangements.
