Vera M. Bucher, 66, of 214 South Poplar Street, Mount Carmel passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Schuylkill East, Pottsville. She is now a “Spirit in the Sky” watching over and still loving all those she so dearly loved during her life.
Born at the former Ashland State Hospital, she was a daughter of Margaret (Sebastian) Hoffman Lewullis and William Charles Lewullis Sr. of Aristes and the late Vincent A. Hoffman.
She was a 1973 graduate of North Schuylkill High School, completing the dental assisting program at the North Schuylkill AVTS, Frackville during that time.
On November 8, 1974, she married Dennis P. Bucher, who preceded her in death on March 10, 2016.
Earlier in life, Vera was employed as a teller at the former Pennsylvania National Bank in Girardville. She later worked for Dr. Edward Schetroma in his Shamokin dental practice. Following, she was employed as a pharmacy technician in the Mount Carmel CVS. She ended her working career as a home health aide.
Vera was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Aristes and its Joy Club. She was also a member of the Mt. Carmel Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 464 where she enjoyed cooking and helping to prepare for various events and functions. Vera was a true social butterfly, she enjoyed being with her family and friends. She had a heart of gold. Vera most especially loved and cherished her granddaughter.
Preceding her in death in addition to her father, Vincent A. Hoffman was her brother, Mark J. Hoffman on September 3, 2020.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her daughter, Andrea Bucher and her companion James Lyden of Mount Carmel; her son, Kyle Bucher and his companion Sophie Bendas of Kulpmont; her granddaughter, “the apple of her eye”, June “Junebug” Bucher; her siblings, John Hoffman and his wife Margaret of Mount Carmel, Vincent Hoffman of Tennessee, Kathy Lewullis-Petrus and her husband Thomas of Mountain Top, William Lewullis Jr. and his wife Bridgett of York, Karen Lewullis-Slotterback and her husband Jack of Mount Carmel, and Christopher Lewullis of Alabama; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, and too many friends to mention.
A visitation will be held on Thursday evening, December 16, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, Supervisor. Private religious services with the Rev. Rose M. Marquardt officiating and interment at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville will be held at the convenience of the family.
