Victoria E. “Torey” Rishel, 89 formerly of Aristes passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a two year courageous battle with cancer on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Mountain View, A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Coal Township.
Born on April 16, 1929 in Sunbury, she was the daughter of the late Harry L. and Katie M. (Wolfe) Trometter.
Torey was a 1946 graduate of Sunbury High School
On September 5, 1959 in Sunbury RD 3 she married Raymond L. Rishel who preceded her in death on October 19, 2003. Following her marriage she was a dedicated homemaker for her husband and children.
Torey was a faithful member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Aristes. She also was a member of the Wilburton Senior Center and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to spending time with her family and especially grandchildren, she loved to attend the senior center activities and go on bus trips, do crosswords and puzzles and reading all her newspapers. She also had a fond love of children.
Torey is survived by her son Scott R. Rishel and his wife Michelle of Paxinos and her daughter Lynne T. Homiak and her husband Robert of Elysburg; her beloved three grandchildren, Malia Stroh and her husband Christopher of Harrisburg, Melissa Rishel of Paxinos and Gregory Rishel of Fort Riley, Kansas; three sisters Lovina Fetterman of Northumberland, Grace Renn of Sunbury and Shirley Stahl of Sunbury.
In addition to her parents and husband of 44 years, Torey was preceded in death by seven brothers, Arthur, Harry, Morris, Ralph, Heber, William and Thaddeus and two sisters, Mary and Katie.
A religious service will be held on Monday, October 22nd, 2018 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Rose Marquardt officiating at the Joseph J. Stutz, Inc. Funeral Home, 40 South Market Street, Mt. Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz, III Supervisor. Interment will follow in the Zion United Methodist Cemetery, Aristes. A viewing will be held on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made to the Zion United Methodist Church or Zion United Methodist Cemetery Fund Mid Valley Road and State Route 42 Aristes, Pa. 17920.
