Virginia T. Nark, 91 of 222 South Orange St., Mt. Carmel passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017 at the Mt. Carmel Senior Living Community.
Born in Mt. Carmel on February 24, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Laura (Tomashefski) Bernas.
Virginia was a 1944 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School.
In 1946 in Our Mother of Consolation Church in Mt. Carmel she married Leon F. Nark who preceded her in death on August 3, 2004.
During her lifetime Virginia had been employed at the former General Cigar Factory in Mt. Carmel and also had worked as a seamstress in area garment factories.
She was a member of the former St. Joseph’s Church in Mt. Carmel, a member of the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, the Mt. Carmel and Elysburg Senior Action Centers, Country Swingers Line Dancers, International Ladies Garment Workers Union and served as President of the Mt. Carmel Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge in Mt. Carmel from 1968-1969.
Virginia enjoyed dancing and watching dancing throughout her life.
She is survived by one son Vaughn J. Nark of Riverside, two grandchildren Angela Smith of Durham, North Carolina and Adam Blotzer of Zelienople, PA., two great grandchildren Charlotte and Miri.
She was preceded in death by one son, Leon D. Nark on December 21, 2013
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday October 25, 2017 at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church with Rev. Francis J. Karwacki, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. There will be no viewing. Everyone is invited to attend the Mass.
